Supervision of Works in Thirra Tunnels on the Durres-Morine Motorway

The “Thirra Tunnels” are located in the Thirra mountains and are part of the biggest Albanian motorway project traversing the country from the Adriatic sea up to the north eastern border with Kosovo along a 171km long corridor. This first of its kind investment in Albania included two 5.6km long tunnels, the Thirra Tunnels, where ICE was involved as a sub consultant of one of the biggest Croatian and world renowned engineering consulting firms, Institut IGH d.d. The tunnels pass through the Thirre Mountain with a peak of approximately 1800 m ASL. Due to complex geological conditions, the project was a big challenge to all participants, and so unforeseen situations were not uncommon during construction, which called for modifications and additional design work.

 

Overall project value: € 835,000,000. ICE supervision value including VAT: € 35,000.

 

ICE shpk supplied its client with electrical engineers and several other ad hoc engineers.
